Sam Malik
President
Strategyx

As President of Strategyx, Mr. Malik leads a team of industry-experienced professionals in providing strategic and consulting services across all issues which impact the areas of managed markets, product strategy and organizational design.
Since co-founding Strategyx in the mid 1990's, Mr. Malik has transformed Strategyx into a leading consulting service to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, representing some of the major leading US and European pharmaceutical and biotech corporations with global reach. The firm has also contributed significantly to the growth and success of emerging biopharmaceutical companies in their start-up stages.
Prior to Strategyx, Mr. Malik had a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry, holding culminating senior positions in product marketing, market research account management, pricing and business development. He initiated the managed health care marketing function at a Sanofi-Aventis at a time when seminal developments were shaping managed care's relationship with manufacturers. He created models in contract pricing that are widely used in the industry today.
Mr. Malik holds an MBA from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth.

Richard Hooten

Richard Hooten leads the managed markets consulting and account management teams functions within the Ventiv Access Group. Mr. Hooten and his team work to provide comprehensive managed care solutions and the requisite experienced personnel to execute for inVentiv clients to ensure successful performance in the marketplace.
Mr. Hooten joined inVentiv in 2005 as the Senior Director for Ventiv Access Services where he was responsible for developing and implementing commercial and government product access programs to include managed markets and trade channels.
Mr. Hooten brings to Ventiv more that 22 years in the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to joining Ventiv, he was Executive Director, Operations for Ranbaxy Laboratories, Inc. were he was responsible for bringing the organization on-line as a free standing legal entity, and day-to day management of contract development and management, forecasts and budgeting, demand planning, market research and business analytics.
Throughout his career, Mr. Hooten has held various management positions such as Head of Healthcare Contact Administration, Director, Economic Development (pricing and contract strategy) for Novartis Pharmaceuticals and Director, Customer Marketing for CIBA Pharmaceuticals. Rich brings a skill set rich in key account management, project management, contract development & government compliance.
Mr. Hooten received a Bachelor’s in Business Administration degree from the University of Central Arkansas.

Kevin O'Hare

As Chief Operating Officer of Health Products Research (HPR), Mr. O’Hare is responsible for the development and execution of company strategy to deliver outstanding financial results.
Mr. O'Hare brings over twenty years of Executive leadership in the telecom industry, with experience in both the private and public sector. Prior to joining HPR, Mr. O’Hare served as Group Vice president, Strategic Development for Commonwealth Telephone Enterprises (CTE) where he was responsible for revenues of 400million and implementing strategic imperatives across all operating companies, totaling 1,100 employees.
In 1998 Mr. O’Hare founded Lightship Telecom, a New England based business-to-business competitive local exchange carrier, where he was the Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer until its sale in 2005. Mr. O’Hare’s other professional job experiences include President and Chief Executive Officer of US WATS, Inc., a public long distance company traded on the NASDAQ Stock Market, and General Manager for ACC Long Distance Corporation for Rochester, New York.
Mr. O’Hare graduated with honors from Ithaca College, earning B.S. degree in economics and management. In addition, Mr. O'Hare served as a faculty member at Pennsylvania State University while pursuing a Ph.D. in economics. Mr. O’Hare is also an active fund-raiser for the Cystic-Fibrosis Foundation.

Norm Stalsberg

Norm Stalsberg, president of CHS, provides strategic oversight by leading strategic initiatives in the overall management of existing projects and building client relationships.
Mr. Stalsberg has more than 20 years of experience in the consumer packaged goods, pharmaceutical and information services industries. His expertise includes new product and services development; strategic, market, and sales planning for in-line and pre-launch products/services; and market research. Brand Management experience includes developing and implementing the launch of MMD/SBCH's first major G.I. line extension.
He formerly served as vice president/general manager, Consumer Products Group, for NDC Health Information Services and as marketing director in their Pharmaceutical Information Services division.
Mr. Stalsberg holds a bachelor's degree from Occidental College.

Alan Birtchet

As COO, Mr. Birtchet is responsible for managing the Ventiv Sales and Marketing Teams division of the company known for its leadership position in providing outsourced sales team solutions to the pharmaceutical industry.
Alan rejoined inVentiv in 2007 as VP, Commercialization where he worked with clients in late phases of their product development, engaging them to utilize inVentiv Health to meet full product life-cycle needs.
Alan brings over 30 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical and Biotech industry to inVentiv. Most recently, Alan helped to create a US commercial organization for ALTANA Pharma toward launch of new chemical entities developed from ALTANA research. Alan was VP of Sales for Altana Pharma and led two sales forces of over 600 sales representatives and built all sales support functions including Operations and Training. Prior to ALTANA, Alan was Executive VP, Commercial Operations for Ventiv Health U.S. Sales, a predecessor company to inVentiv Commercial. Alan has held staff and line management roles within Sales and Marketing for pharmaceutical manufacturers including Centocor, US Bioscience and Merck. Alan has worked with both emerging and established pharmaceutical and biotech companies. He has helped to successfully commercialize products across multiple therapeutic areas.
Alan earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington.

Kelly Gratz

As President of Blue Diesel, Kelly Gratz is responsible for all aspects of the company's business, including operations, strategic direction and sales and marketing. Stephen L. Gornto

Steve Gornto is the COO Sales Operations & Compliance Support of inVentiv Commercial. He is responsible for the coordination and growth of the whole-system sample management offering, including sampling activities. In addition, he oversees data management, analysis and reporting and sales force effectiveness services supporting inVentiv's biotech and pharmaceutical clients, as well as for business development of the TDS portfolio.
Mr. Gornto brings more than 15 years of sales operations, training, and field management experience to inVentiv Health. His leadership skills have enabled him to hold several management positions within Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Noven Pharmaceuticals, and inVentiv Health, including Manager, Sales Operations, Regional Sales Manager and National Sales Director.
Mr. Gornto has a Bachelors of Arts degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of West Florida and performed graduate work at Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Bryan S. Horveath

Bryan Horveath is the Senior Vice President and Managing Director for the Ventiv Professional Development Group, a division of inVentiv Commercial, located in Somerset, New Jersey. Mr. Horveath leads a team of training professionals that design, develop and deliver quality training and development services. Prior to his promotion, Mr. Horveath ran Client Training and Development, where he was responsible for overseeing the management and representative training function for several inVentiv contracts.
Mr. Horveath brings more than 14 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in the areas of training and development, performance improvement, business development, sales management and marketing on both the client and vendor sides of the business. His diverse sales, marketing and training experience covers a wide range of therapeutic classes, including cardiology, CNS, endocrinology, gastroenterology, pain management and women's health.
Mr. Horveath received his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the Pennsylvania State University, and he will be recognized in the 2006-2007 edition of the National Register's Who's Who in Executives and Professionals. He is also a member of the American Society for Training & Development, International Society for Performance Improvement and the Society of Pharmaceutical & Biotech Trainers.

Bill Jacobs is President, ASERT/DialogCoach and is part of the Ventiv Professional Development Group of inVentiv Commercial Services.
Mr. Jacobs brings over 20 years of pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device experience. Having previously worked at Beecham Laboratories, Anesta/Cephalon, Health Answer’s Corp., as well as Aventis. In 2002 Bill founded ASERT, LLC (American Speaker Education Research and Training). As President of ASERT, LLC he is responsible for overseeing all business functions, and keeps a role in many client programs. ASERT has had many years of continuous growth and expansion, targeted in delivering customized solutions for training and education in the Pharmaceutical and Biotech industries.
Mr. Jacobs has had the pleasure of building ASERT, LLC to include a vice president of meeting/project planning who specializes in clinical advisory boards, a vice president of sales with thirty five years of pharmaceutical experience, a vice president of new business development with over ten years of strategic planning and clinical experience and a vice president of project management with twelve years of clinical and basic science research experience from MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Mr. Jacobs earned a bachelor’s degree of Science from Seton Hall University.

Denis Lalonde

Denis Lalonde is the General Manager of inVentiv Commercial Canada. He joined inVentiv in January 2007 and he will be responsible to establish inVentiv Commercial division services in Canada.
Prior joining inVentiv, Denis Lalonde was President of Fournier Pharma Corp in New Jersey from September 2002 to March 2006. He has successfully managed, developed and increased Fournier’s US affiliate profitability by defining a vision, planning and implementing a sales force deployment for the co-promotion of TriCor (fenofibrate), Fournier’s lipid lowering product, with the US licensee Abbott pharmaceuticals. He has integrated an infrastructure growth where the number of full time equivalent increased from 5 to over 200, while achieving and exceeding local budget every year.
A pharmacist by training who earned his B. Pharm. in 1986 from the Université de Montréal, Denis also holds an MBA, which he was awarded in 1991 by the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales in Montréal. The primary focus of his graduate studies were Marketing and Project Management.
Prior to joining Fournier Pharma Corp. in the US, Denis was Director, Business Development & Government Affairs for Fournier Pharma Inc. in Canada from January 1998. His responsibilities in that position included finding new pharmaceutical partners for the company, negotiating new business opportunities and developing productive working relationships with government agencies that regulate and manage reimbursement plans.
Denis, who is fluently bilingual (French and English), has been with Fournier Pharma since 1993. He began his career with the company as a Training Manager and was soon promoted to Manager of Training and Sales Support, and then to Manager, Market Research and Business Development.
Prior to joining Fournier, Denis spent several years with Berlex Canada Inc., where he worked in pharmaceutical sales and clinical research.

Mr. Maiden is President of MedConference, LLC. In his current role, he leads a team of industry-experienced professionals in providing live and on demand web conferencing services to the Life Sciences industry. Supported by a host of technology, Mr. Maiden's organization leads the industry in providing a wide range of online meeting and online training solutions for initiatives such as marketing/promotional webinars, clinical meetings/events, sales training and medical education events.
Prior to joining inVentiv Health, Mr. Maiden held financial positions in both public accounting (KPMG) and private industry. Then in 1990, he co-founded The Maxwell Group, Inc. (Maxwell) and is credited with pioneering the first of its kind brand promotional webinar series; which positively impacted the industry and continues to be a leading program today. Over the next several years, he transformed Maxwell into a leading provider of virtual event services by taking the company to new heights with the development and implementation of a proprietary web conference platform, MedConferenceLIVE®, the first web conference platform built specifically to serve the needs of pharmaceutical marketers, clinical and education managers.
Mr. Maiden holds a BS degree in Accounting from Drexel University, and is a certified public accountant.

Warren F. Merlino

Warren Merlino is the Executive Vice President and Managing Director Logistic Services of PROMOTECH, a division of inVentiv Commercial located in Louisville, Colorado. At PROMOTECH, Warren oversees a full suite of non- personal promotion services for the life sciences industry to include fulfillment, distribution, warehousing, direct mail, database management, tele-services, e-services, print center and direct mail services. In addition, Mr. Merlino serves on the inVentiv Selling Solutions Senior Management Team.
With over 21 years of pharmaceutical sales and marketing experience at companies such as Bristol-Myers Squibb and Ciba-Geigy Pharmaceuticals (Novartis), Warren brings a strong skill set in strategic and tactical planning, logistics, marketing, sales, managed care, leadership training and development, and negotiations to PROMOTECH.
During the course of his career, Mr. Merlino has had the opportunity to work closely with executives at every level within the health care arena. In his tenure with PROMOTECH, he has led the company through five major company expansions, including the latest, a new 100,000 sq ft. literature distribution center scheduled to open the first quarter of 2008. These changes have enhanced the capabilities available to PROMOTECH clients and positioned this inVentiv division for continued revenue growth.
Mr. Merlino earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida as well as an M.B.A. from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Mr. Vogel has 26 years of pharmaceuticals sales, marketing and sales operations experience. Before joining inVentiv he served as Vice President of Sales and Sales Operations at NPS Pharmaceuticals.
Mr. Vogel began his Pharmaceutical career as a sales representative at Searle Pharmaceuticals. Before joining NPS, Mr. Vogel was at Sanofi-Aventis where he held a variety of responsibilities including VP of Metabolism Sales, VP Respiratory Sales and VP Business Performance Improvement.
Mr. Vogel earned his Bachelors of Science degree at Ball State University and MBA at Lake Forest School of Management and holds a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
